It’s Not Really About the Flag
By Kathleen Ross
It’s Not Really About the Flag is a digital collage of several photographs I took at different places around St. Louis, Missouri. During the protests against police brutality that drew worldwide attention after the killing of Michael Brown, the people who live here continue to deal with racism and excessive police force. The American flag is for all of us, but has been used to justify silencing people who suffer and die from police brutality. I made this piece in solidarity with Colin Kaepernick and in response to the Jason Stockley protests.
